Rising Through the Ranks: Meet Lucas Silva

At just 14 years old, Lucas Silva is already making a name for himself on the UK BMX scene.

With a combination of natural talent, relentless determination and an undeniable passion for BMX, Lucas has continued to progress year after year. Whether it's learning new tricks, travelling to competitions or simply putting in the hours at the skatepark, his commitment to the sport is evident every time he rides.

His hard work has already begun to pay off.

In 2024, Lucas enjoyed an outstanding season in the Backyard Jam National BMX Freestyle Series, finishing 1st Overall in the Under 12 category. He also claimed 1st place in the Under 12 Expert Park Open competition at Junction 4 Urban Sports Village, confirming his place as one of the country's most exciting young riders.

Stepping up into the Under 15 category in 2025 brought a fresh challenge, but Lucas adapted quickly. At the 2025 Lloyds BMX Freestyle National Championships, he secured an impressive 3rd-place finish, proving his progression was continuing as he moved through the ranks.

Away from the UK competition scene, Lucas has also begun making his mark internationally.

In 2025, he travelled to Portugal to compete at Março Jovem BMX Jam, where he finished 7th against a strong field while being the youngest rider in his category. Returning again this year, Lucas once more competed as the youngest rider in the class and improved on his previous result, finishing 5th against some of Portugal's top talent.

Away from the contest scene, Lucas's progression has been impossible to ignore. From mastering 360 tailwhips to landing 720s and continually adding new tricks to his arsenal, every video he shares showcases another step forward. It's the kind of progression that quickly turns watching one clip into watching every clip.

BMX has also taken Lucas far beyond his local skatepark.

Supported every step of the way by his parents, he has travelled across the UK and Europe to experience watching some of the biggest names in BMX at contests such as FISE Montpellier for example.

Along the journey, he has had the opportunity to meet many of his BMX heroes, including Harry Main, Ryan Nyquist, Rubén Alcántara and many more experiences that continue to fuel his motivation and love for the sport.

Ask Lucas what has helped him get this far, and he'll be the first to credit his mum and dad. Their unwavering support, countless road trips and belief in his ability have played a huge role in helping him pursue his passion for BMX.

Lucas Silva is undoubtedly a young rider to keep an eye on. His progression over the past few years has been remarkable, and with his dedication, support network and passion for BMX, the future looks incredibly bright.
